I had so much fun making crepes for the first time that I had to do it again. This time, however, I wanted to make sweet crepes. They say that if you don’t succeed the first time you should try, try again. And that is so true. My first crepes were fat and big, somebody even confused them with pancakes
However, these other crepes were smaller and a lot thinner and it didn’t take me 2 attempts to make them right. They didn’t brake or stick to the pan and, best of all, they turned out delicious. Since I only used 5 strawberries to decorate my Party Cake, I used the rest for the filling of the crepes. This is what I did:
Using my QuickChef (one of my favorite Tupperware items) I chopped the strawberries and set them apart.
With the whip attachment I whipped 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream with 2 TBSP of confectioner’s sugar and some vanilla extract. When the cream was think I added the strawberries and whipped until they blended with the cream.
I used this recipe to make the crepes again. I then filled them with the strawberry cream and topped them with some confectioner’s sugar and ground cinnamon.
Aren’t they pretty? I have conquered another one of my kitchen fears, crepes. I know what some of you might be thinking, wasn’t he supposed to be on a diet? Well, I am, but it is not a traditional diet. I am just cutting down on the amount of food that I eat (this was Jon’s plate, I just ate 2 of them) and I am incorporating more vegetables and fruits to my meals. But most importantly, I am exercising every day, but that is a topic for another post.

That looks great. I’ve never made crepes before. I love plain strawberries though, so I’d probably just stuff mine with chopped strawberries and whipped cream, non blended.

Ben, would the results be any better with a Rubbermaid utensil? lol Just kidding, I love crepes and the pink inside of these looks sexy…great dessert.

LOL! Rubbermaid utensils…that was too funny….Now back to your crepes amigo. They look great. As I’ve discussed before pancakes/crepes and all that jazz don’t sit well with me (in terms of making them…but I will have a go soon!)
Speaking of “diets” I hear you..too much typing and not enough exercising is not a good combination!

tht looks yummy. i’ve never made crepes before, my mum has. i remember having the best crepes (unfortunately not homemade) in Paris: one was filled with this gorgeous cheese, one with nutella and bananas and err…yes, another with cinnamon and sugar. the next day I went out to the creperie and got one with lemon and sugar. dang, it was good.

actually, would you consider British pancakes crepes? I can make those…but they aren’t as good as thick, fluffy american pancakes. by the way, great blog! x

These look great, Ben! I’ve been gearing up to try some savory crepes, so I appreciate the link to the basic crepes recipe too. I’m curious–what does the seltzer bring to the party in the crepes? Is it just a good way to thin the batter so you get nice, thin crepes?

wow im in a cooking class at school because i love to cook!! ya my mom always makes those delicious creps…. but instead of using they strawberry cream my mom uses a sort of cream cheese topping and then I help cut some strawberries and put them on top of the cream cheese sauce and when we have done that then we put some whipped cream and we forld the crepe, and EAT IT!! YUM!! ya we do that only in the summer when the strawberries are fresh….. any way thanks for the awsome idea!!
