I know I am late with my dessert for Sweet Fridays, but I had to wait until yesterday to make this cake. The wait was worth, though. Last night we went out for dinner with Jon’s family. It has become a tradition that I bring a cake to those dinners, that’s why I waited a couple of extra days to make last week’s dessert. What kind of cake did I make this time? A really good one.
This is the third month that I participate in Nicole’s event Taste & Create. This month I was paired with Raaga of The Singing Chef. There are a lot of interesting recipes on Raaga’s blog but after looking for a while I decided to look only in the dessert section, after all I was hunting for a cake recipe. I knew what recipe I was going to try the moment I read the title: Chocolate Orange Marble Cake. I love oranges and I love chocolate and when you put it all together in a cake it has to be a perfect combination, right?

Actually, I wasn’t sure how it was going to turn out, but my fears were unfounded. Everybody loved the cake and Jon’s dad kept telling every server that walked by the table that I was a great cook. I guess that means I can start my own catering business/bakery? Ah, if I only had the money to invest
Anyway, the cake wasn’t perfect. I ran into two small problems. First the bottom and parts of the side of the cake broke when I took it out of the baking dish (you can see in the picture) and I didn’t have orange food coloring, only yellow, so the frosting looked more lemon-ish than orange. That, however, didn’t affect the taste at all. It was still a winner and a cake that I will for certain make again (for parties and family reunions because I am going into a diet [yeah, right])
Make sure to visit Nicole’s and Raaga’s blogs for more delicious recipes.
Buen provecho!

I love anything chocolate and orange. And the cake looks amazing. I’m not sure a more orange look would have added to the appeal, actually.

Looks delectable, Ben! I love orange and chocolate, too.
You can start catering small, for meetings or small parties and go from there.

This is one of the coolest cakes I’ve seen. I love orange and chocolate together! And why don’t I have Taste & Create down on my calendar. It’s so much fun! As far as the bakery idea goes, you’re moving to Paradise to open one with me, remember?
