I can’t believe I started this blog almost a year ago. I must admit that at first I didn’t took good care of it. I posted every once in a while and abandoned it for several months. It was not until a couple of months ago that I started to blog seriously. And the response has been huge! Sometime this morning while I slept somebody became the #100 subscriber of this blog’s feed. That is very encouraging. All I can say is THANK YOU! You, my readers, give me the inspiration and motivation to go on.
On with the food, there is one breakfast I like to make over and over again. I have tried different versions of it and many different ingredients and I can’t seem to mess it up. I am talking about Strata. The first time I made it I fell in love wit it. Since then I have made it with chorizo, ham, turkey, cheese, green peppers and many other ingredients. But I have to say that the best one has probably been this weekend’s spinach and honey ham strata.
I used 1/2 cup of heavy cream instead of milk, Mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar and puff pastry for the base instead of bread. It was delicious! Strata is the perfect weekend brunch.
What is your favorite version? And before I forget, Happy Easter!, for the ones who celebrate it.

Congrats on the subscribers – not surprising, because your blog absolutely rocks! I love veggies and cheeses in strata – especially eggplant, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, roasted peppers, asparagus, onions (not altogether, though!). Strata are wonderful!

I just did a strata with Gruyere Cheese and Spicy Italian Sausage. I posted it on my blog. Come take a look if you have a chance and let me know what you think. Love the blog!
