I realized that most food events deadlines are set for the last week of the month. That gives foodies a lot of stress trying to come up with 5 or 6 dishes in the last week of the month. That’s what’s happened to me, anyway. That’s why starting with this Food for Plastic Challenge the deadline will be set for the second week of the month, March 14th in this case.
Last month challenge was about puff pastry. The participants came out with some great recipes and Michelle won with her delicious chicken pockets. Here then are the guidelines for the second Food for Plastic Challenge:
- To participate in this challenge you will have to cook anything related with the change of seasons. It has been a long and cold winter in this part of the world and we are looking forward to milder weather. However, some of my readers are from the southern hemisphere and their fall is just approaching. So if you are from the northern hemisphere cook something to celebrate spring and if you are from the southern hemisphere something to celebrate fall. It can be a dessert, appetizer, main dish and you can use any ingredient (fruit, vegetables, meat) to create the dish.
- Tell us about your dish, the fresh ingredients you find at the market and what people do to receive the new season in the part of the world you live. We want to know about it.
If you own a blog:
- Post your challenge on your blog. Create a post with your recipe, photos (if possible) and a link to this post Food for Plastic Challenge II – a taste of spring (or fall).
- Send me an e-mail with your name, the name of your blog, the URL of your blog and the URL of the challenge post to challenge(at)whatscooking.us
If you don’t own a blog, but still want to participate:
- Send your recipe, pictures (if possible) and the name of your favorite Tupperware item (a description if you don’t remember it) and the reason why you love that piece of plastic so much to challenge(at)whatscooking.us. I will post your recipes and pictures on this site.
- The deadline to receive the entries will be March 14th, 2008. On March 16th I will post the entries on this blog (links for bloggers and recipes with pictures for non-bloggers) and a voting poll showing the name of the recipes (be creative with your names). The poll will remain open until March 19th, 2008. So make sure to tell your friends and family to vote for you.
- The recipe that receive the most votes at the end of the voting period will win a Tupperware® Baking set that contains:
Micro Pitcher Set
- Fast, mess-free solution for microwave reheating gravies and sauces quickly and neatly.
- They’re sensational for melting butter or chocolate, too.
- Invert small 1-cup (250 mL) pitcher over large 2-cup (500 mL) pitcher for a self-venting cover.
- Include U.S. standard and metric measurements.

- Stain-resistant kitchen tool can endure heat up to 400º F.
- Chili head is ideal for mixing sauces and batters.
